Five Year Capital Plan

Each public K12 school district in Alabama, including Madison City Schools, is required to prepare and update a Five Year Capital Plan at least annually to meet the requirements for participating in and receive funding from the Education Foundation Fund (PSF) and the Alabama Public School and College Authority (APSCA) funds. The capital plan submitted to the State of Alabama meets the process, content, and quality requirements for participating in the PSF and APSCA. The Capital Planning process gives due consideration to the capital needs resulting from the anticipated growth or decline in student population/enrollment for each school and across Madison City Schools. To the extent possible, the Capital Planning process endeavored to; preserve the existing buildings and to maintain quality educational environments in existing buildings, optimize capital resources with the objective of providing quality facilities for all students in the Madison City Schools, and reuse building assets when feasible and to predict decommissioning of structures where warranted. This Capital Plan is responsible and best meets the needs of the community given the limited resources and the identified needs of the system. This Capital Plan is reliable and will be used to monitor progress and to meet accountability requirements of the Foundation Program law.
